Art Education @ Gallery 1C03!

During the month of October, three art classes from Ecole River Heights School visited Gallery 1C03 to take in Ken Gregory's fantastic exhibition "wind coil sound flow".
After learning about Gregory's artwork, which was partly inspired by the Aeolian kite, the students went on to make their own kites out of humble recycled materials. They proceeded to take the kites for a test run on the front lawn of the University of Winnipeg....great fun! Special thanks to Amber Schellenberg, Gallery 1C03's art educator, for conducting this program.

If you are an art teacher, or a teacher of any discipline for that matter, consider contacting
Gallery 1C0about visiting us with your students for a tour and art activity related to our latest exhibition "The Pinky Show: Class Treason Stories (excerpts)". The show continues until December 12 and we'll accept bookings until then [j.gibson@uwinnipeg.ca].

Please find below some images from the students' visit and kite-flying on the front lawn :)

Photos from The Pinky Show: Class Treason Stories (excerpts)

We would like to send a shout out and thanks to everyone who joined us to celebrate the launch of The Pinky Show's exhibit at Gallery 1C03, The Pinky Show: Class Treason Stories (excerpts). Thanks also to all who came out for the talks that followed, both at the University of Winnipeg and aceartinc. The reception and artist talks were very well attended, and we were thrilled by some of the 'critical discourse'-oriented conversations that were spurred by the exhibit.
One of our visiting Human Representatives of the Pinky Show gave an excellent structuralist analysis of the education system, in a discussion prompted by some of Pinky's thoughts on the subject from the Pinky Show video "Scary School Nightmare." This video, as well as numerous other Pinky vids can be viewed at : www.PinkyShow.org.

You can also satisfy your Pinky urges by checking out Lynette McLarty's article for the Uniter!

Please find below some photos taken at the opening reception, and at the artist's talk at the University of Winnipeg.

A full selection of photos is available via our Facebook page, which is open to all comers :)
