Actor Needed for Gallery 1C03 Exhibition!
Contract Acting Job!
Seeking Actor for Live Performance at Gallery 1C03
Female actor
needed for a performance at The University of Winnipeg’s Gallery 1C03.
Performance is staged in an art exhibition, and involves improvisation and
creative collaboration with the artist as well as some script memorization.
The performance
will be documented through video. Approximately 6 performances (see schedule
below) and a 1 to 2 day shoot. There will be several rehearsals as needed over
the coming month.

Work Study Program at The University of Winnipeg
Administered through the University’s Awards & Financial
Aid department, the Work Study Program provides on-campus part-time job
opportunities for eligible full-time University of Winnipeg students; jobs are

Curatorial Assistant
$13.35 - $14.49 per hour

Position description:
The Curatorial Assistant will provide support to the Art
Curator's Office with communications related to Gallery 1C03 programs as well
as research, registration, and maintenance of the art collection.
Responsibilities and duties:
The successful candidate will disseminate information on
Gallery programming via various on-line applications, assist with events which
may include photography, help with exhibit installation, development of art
education programs. This position will also carry out art collection management
duties including research on artists, updating information in the collection
database, moving and cleaning artworks, preparing identification labels, and
fulfilling on-campus art loan requests.
Required qualifications:
Preference will be given to students with a background in
art, cultural studies, education, and/or communication, and to those with
previous experience working in a gallery or museum setting. Strong research,
writing, and oral communication skills, excellent attention to detail, strong
organization skills, and the ability to work independently are necessary.
The ability to move and handle art is required. Must have knowledge of MS
Office suite, social media platforms. Experience in FileMaker Pro, photography,
and photo editing software will be considered assets.
In addition to submitting an application via the Awards

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Opens/closes Gallery 1C03 (The University of Winnipeg’s campus art gallery) at the beginning/end of the day by turning on/shutting off all Gallery lights; plugging in/unplugging, turning on/turning off, starting up/shutting down equipment; opening/closing doors; ensuring that Security Services unlock/lock doors and de-arm/re-arm the Gallery’s alarm system.
- Safety/security of Gallery 1C03 exhibits - ensures that artworks exhibited in Gallery 1C03 are not subject to theft or mishandling by the public during hours of operation.
- Public relations - greets visitors to Gallery 1C03 and answers any questions that visitors have about the art exhibits to the best of their ability; refers visitors to Gallery 1C03’s Director/Curator in situations where they are unable to provide assistance.
- Attendance record - maintains a count of the number of visitors to Gallery 1C03.
- Alerts Gallery 1C03 Director/Curator of any problems within the Gallery environment; these can relate to temperature, humidity and lighting issues or concerns for the safety of the artwork or visitors.
- When applicable, takes readings of environmental conditions in Gallery 1C03 using a hand-held environmental monitor or a data logger.
- When applicable, handles sales of art exhibition catalogues; this includes maintaining a count of funds in cash box and a count of catalogues at the beginning and end of each shift and returns all cash to Gallery 1C03 Director/Curator for processing.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
- Must be a full-time student at a high school or The University of Winnipeg, preferably an art history/cultural studies major or related disciplines, or with an interest in the visual arts.
- Some knowledge of contemporary visual art would be an asset.
- On the job training provided.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, procedures and regulations.
- May require the ability to maintain records and handle cash on occasion.
- Ability to communicate effectively with visitors who may be students, faculty, staff and the general public.
- Ability to work day, evening and/or weekend shifts.
- Capable of performing duties as assigned.

Job Description:
Gallery 1C03 seeks to hire a Collections Management and Curatorial
Research Intern to carry out work in several areas.
Collections
Management: Working under the supervision of Gallery 1C03’s Director/Curator,
the Intern will conduct an inventory of a portion of the University art
collection and carry out on-campus artwork loan requests. Through this process
the intern will help the Director/Curator identify and prioritize selected
pieces for conservation treatment as the University’s budget allows and facilitate
the presentation of artworks on campus. The Intern will also accession new
titles into the Gallery’s library database of contemporary and historical art
publications, and participate in the distribution of the Gallery’s publications
to other institutions to make them available to researchers.
Curatorial
Research: The Intern will conduct research on selected artworks in the
collection identified by the Director/Curator in preparation for a forthcoming
exhibition.
Gallery
Attendant /Education/Communication: The Intern will serve as an attendant for
several afternoons during the presentation of a collection exhibition in the
Gallery, welcoming visitors and providing information about the exhibition.
S/he will also carry out art education programming/tours related to the
exhibition upon request. Finally, the Intern may be asked to promote Gallery
programming via social media.
This position offers the candidate the opportunity to gain
valuable hands-on training and work experience in a professional environment.
It is subject to approval of funding from Young Canada Works.
