**Art Programming Assistant**
Classification: Assistant Technician 1, Step 1
Pay Rate: $12.99 / hour + 6% vacation pay
Funds Granted: $1000.00
Duties:
- conducting research on contemporary and/or historical artists
-communicate with artists
-assist in coordinating and delivering public programming
-contribute to marketing and communication efforts by writing draft
press releases and posting information on-line via Gallery 1C03's
website, blog, facebook and twitter accounts
-student may be asked to photograph artworks and programming events
-curatorial research assistance opportunities may be available to explore future art programming on campus
-may assist with installation of Gallery 1C03 and other exhibit spaces on campus
-may assist with preparation of grant applications for exhibitions
-there will be an opportunity to develop art education programs related to Gallery 1C03 exhibitions for school age children
This work/study position offers an
excellent opportunity for a student interested in gallery or museum work
from a programming, communications and educational standpoint.
Required Qualifications:
Preference
will be given to students with a background in art, communications
and/or education, ideally art history majors, communications or
education students or students in the
graduate-level curatorial studies program, as well as students with
previous work experience in a gallery or museum setting. Strong
research,
writing, oral communication and computer skills are assets, as are
presentation and organizational skills, attention to detail and the
ability to work independently. Photography
experience would also be an asset as well. Students from other
disciplines will
be considered.
